Online Education

Q: I would like to continue my education. However, I'm married, mother of 2 children, and work full time. I am interested in online schools that specialize in finance. How do I locate schools, schedules and procedures?
Debbie

A: Dear Debbie,
Congratulations on continuing your education. You will find lots of information on the Internet regarding online or distance education. A caution here though. For the credits or degree to count at major universities (should you decide to change later or continue for a Master's), the school you pick MUST be regionally accredited. That does not mean "state approved" or anything like that. North Central Regional accreditation is one, but as long as it is a regional accrediting body you should be okay.

That being said, you might begin by checking out the University of Phoenix. They are accredited, have an online campus and deal with business degrees. Other than that run a search online for distance education and you will find many such institutions.

Also you can check at your local library for a directory of online or distance education programs. There are programs through "regular" universities where you go to the school once a semester for "residency" requirements and finish the rest of the course work on your own.
