Finding a Job You Enjoy
Q: I have a very unusual resume. I was an ambassador' wife and a diplomat myself, so marketing, PR, fundraising, economics, public & private sector, 6 spoken languages. Loves art. Very problem-solving, intellectual, analytical. What can I do?

A:
You do indeed have an unusual resume but in the list you mentioned in your
question there are many highly valued skills.
The first thing you need to decide is what field you would truly enjoy
spending a large part of your time in. There are two books that are
excellent at helping you decide that. The first thing to do is look at what
you have a passion for. A book I've been recommending a lot these days is
"The Work You Were Born to Do." This is a great book for finding your
passion. Another one for doing the same and also for setting goals to
achieve that passion is "Do It! Let's Get Off Our Buts." The first is by
Nick Williams and the second by Peter McWilliams. Both are well worth
reading before you go any further.
Then when you decide where your passion lies, build a resume or marketing
portfolio for yourself that highlights and showcases all of those wonderful
skills. I can tell you that marketing, public relations, fundraising, etc.
are all very highly valued and hard to come by. With your abilities in
foreign languages and economics have you considered international business?
If you enjoy marketing and PR that might be a very viable and lucrative
option. If you love art, can you combine international commerce with being
an art dealer?
Decide what you'd like to do, build your resume and go for it. You are a
very talented woman with marketable abilities. Feel free to contact me at

process.
Good luck and best wishes,
