Breaking out as an adult

A: Lita,
I recognized your problem immediately. Although I congratulate you on having a skin routine, you are using the wrong product by using the Oil of Olay body wash. It's important to remember that not all brands are meant for all markets. Our skin changes from the teens to twenties to thirties and certain brands work best with certain life-phases of our skin.

Because of your age, your skin is going through changes. The product you are using is loaded with perfumes and emollients which are clogging your pores. It is too heavy for your skin. I suggest that you remain on your doctor's regiment but also change your cleansing product to an alphahydroxy based cleanser. It will speed up the rejuvenation process in your skin.

The acne you are experiencing is dead skin cells laying dormant and the alphahydroxy exfoliates the cells. Also try a product or acne medicine which contains salicylic acid 1%. It is a drying agent which helps clear up acne blemishes and breakouts while exfoliating skin cells.

Since your skin sounds like it tends to be oily, I recommend that you make sure you are using only gels or lotions in the other skin care products you use. Foundations should be oil free and water based.
