Strengthing of the Legs
Q. I want to strengthen my quadriceps so that I can build up my week
knees (they are currently sore from overexertion). Can you please tell me what the best
exercise for that would be? I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Devorah
A.
Strengthening of your quadriceps and knee joints will give you maximum
mobility for everyday life. Sadly, many women suffer from knee problems, and
all to often think that the answer is not exercising. It's encouraging to
see that you realize they need to be exercises to strengthen.
To build up the knee joint, you must strengthen your thigh muscles, both in
front and back of your legs, which govern the stability and strength of the
knee. Even gentle activities such as walking can help with building knee
strength. To really see improvements in knee strength, some resistance
should be added. Seated leg extensions and leg curls with ankle weights are
two great choices to start with. The key is to start slowly. Strengthening
your knees will prevent fatigue in the thighs and will protect you from
tearing ligaments.
